Is Critical Thinking Dead? The more I delve into the cesspool of social media, the more I'm convinced that my generation is incapable of critical thought.
Consider rape, for example.
I always thought I was looking out for the best interests of my female friends by advising them not to walk alone late at night or to accept drinks from strangers.
But apparently, according to Tumblr feminists, offering that advice makes me a "rape apologist" and "victim blamer" because it assumes women deserve to be raped if they don't take such precautions.
By that logic, I must also believe that victims of theft deserve to be mugged if I advise people not to carry large amounts of cash and flash it in public!
No, clearly, rather than teaching women to protect themselves from potential rapists, I should be teaching potential rapists (i.e.: MENZ!) not to rape.
What I should really do is tell my guy friends not to have sex with women without their consent--which I'm pretty sure they already know, or if they don't know, they don't ca
Feminists Laugh At Violence Towards Men(You should all know by now that when I announce I'm going on hiatus, it's not going to be for long until I start posting again.)
For those of you unfamiliar with Jezebel, what rock have you been living under? This website is the main hub for all things feminist.
So if you want a good peek into the feminist psyche, feel free to browse the articles on this site along with the comments—then watch a manly movie like Judge Dread to compensate. (Because there is nothing more manly than Sylvester Stalone wearing a Captain Falcon helmet screaming "I am the law!")
This is something that I recently discovered on Tumblr: six years ago, Jezebel ran a story about a study which revealed that 70 percent of nonreciprocal violence within r
Government Is Your Family?Anyone who seriously believes that our public schools provide for an "educated population" clearly hasn't been to a public school, or they have been to one and were programmed like the good little children they are.
It's the only plausible explanation as to why so many Americans are oblivious to blatant propaganda such as this:Fourth-grade students in Illinois are learning that "government is like a nation's family" because it sets rules and takes care of needs such as health care and education.
So says a worksheet for social studies homework that was distributed to students at East Prairie School in Skokie, Ill, complete with a drawing of Uncle Same cradling a baby that represents the citizens.
Students are then prompted to answer 10 questions comparing government and families, including how their family provides for their health care needs and how the government doe
Colorado Boots Anti-Gun LawmakersGood news out of Colorado: not only did it become the first state to adopt recreational marijuana laws, but through a recall election, it ousted two anti-gun lawmakers, one of which had the audacity to call gun owners a "sickness in our soul." (The rational response to which is ":iconfluttershysqueeplz: you too, pal!")
So anyone who cares about the Second Amendment and the rest of the Constitution should rejoice over this news. Not the anti-gun nuts. They're busy bawling moonbat tears, and by Celestia, do they taste refreshing!
One especially hysterical temper-tantrum comes from Esquire's
18 Facts That Prove Guns Make Us SaferMichael Snyder from The American Dream provides 18 Little-Known Gun Facts That Prove That Guns Make Us Safer. (WARNING: If you support gun control and do not wish to have your anti-gun narrative contradicted, do not proceed to read this list.):#1 Over the past 20 years, gun sales have absolutely exploded, but homicides with firearms are down 39 percent during that time and "other crimes with firearms" are down 69 percent.
#2 A study published in the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy discovered that nations that have mor
The Ice Caps Returneth
Take a good hard look at the two photographs above. Both reveal that the Arctic ice caps have increased--I repeat, INCREASED--by 60 percent within the course of one year.
This photographic evidence single-handedly destroys the mainstream narrative that global warming is melting the ice caps. If anything, scientists are now admitting that the exact opposite is happening: global cooling!
The only possible way you can accept man-made global warming without ignoring this inconvenient truth is if you subscribe to the Day After Tommorow version where rapid climate change actually creates tiny pockets of intense cold that freezes everything in sight.
But in that case, you would
We Should Be Thankful for Private PropertyWhile the new dope—excuse me, Pope—Pope Francis is busy denouncing free-market capitalism as a “new tyranny,” John Stossel reminds us all of the suffering the first American settlers faced when they rejected individual property rights:The Pilgrims started out with communal property rules. When they first settled at Plymouth, they were told: "Share everything, share the work, and we'll share the harvest."
The colony's contract said their new settlement was to be a "common." Everyone was to receive necessities out of the common stock. There was to be little individual property.
That wasn't the only thing about the Plymouth Colony that sounds like it was from Karl Marx: Its labor was to be organized according to the different capabilities of the settlers. Peop
Police State? What Police State?!
The vehicles pictured above are MRAPs, or Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles. These 18-ton armored behemoths are fitted with gun turrets and bulletproof glass. Able to withstand roadside bombs, they were designed specifically for use in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
But now that the wars are dwindling down, what is the army to do with these things? Sell them to local law enforcement agencies, of course! And that’s exactly what the Defense Department is doing through a national military surplus program.
Perhaps even more frightening is that one of these MRAPs was sold to the Ohio State University's police department. You
The Scariest Movie Ever...Filling in for Mr. Repzion, Charles St. Michael explains why political beliefs are far more dangerous than religious beliefs:
VIDEO: The Scariest Movie Ever...A common statement from a lot of atheists is that we don't need religion to teach us morality: we have common sense, we have our own intellect, we have reason. And that's an outstanding point. However, belief trumps everything. And if you are invested into a political belief system, you're going to hang onto it. You're going to cling onto it like it's the last life preserver on the Titanic going down.
And that belief system could actually push out your way of thinking and replace it with its way of thinking, and that is a scary place to be setting up shop because you will see people of conscience, people who are articulate, intelligent, well-read, throwing that all away and bowing down before a belief system th
This Is Just Pathetic!Over a month ago, Salon writer Michael Lind posed this "unanswerable question" to libertarians: "If libertarianism is such a good idea, why aren't there any libertarian countries?" Since then, libertarians by the drove have responded to his "unanswerable question" by--shockingly enough--answering it!
But rather than admit defeat, in his recent post "Grow Up Libertarians" (classy title!), Lind simply wipes the egg from his face and doubles-down on his position, insisting that his "unanswerable question" remains unanswered, despite the myriad of answers that libertarians have provided him.
This pathetic behavior is common among the intellectually dishonest. Rather than admit that their insipid questions do indeed have real answers, they merely brush off these answers by claiming they don't count for some reason or another.
Obama: Big Fat Liar!At this point, Obama isn't even trying to cover his deceit anymore. He couldn't be any more transparent about his dishonesty if his nose was growing while his pants were on fire!
Case in point: during his speech at an Arizona high school, while selling his ideas on housing market reform, which included scrapping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (which, in light of the housing bubble burst, is akin to suggesting throwing out your busted kerosene heater AFTER it burns your house to the ground and AFTER people had warned you countless times that it posed a fire hazard), Obama decided to make a few snide remarks at the protesters outside calling him a "socialist," telling them "I actually believe in the free market."
Since freaking when?!?!
When in the holy royal delectable plot of Princess Celestia have you ever believed in the free market? Was it when you bailed-out the banks and auto industry, or when you were offering corporate welfare
Are Feminists Really This Stupid?Feminists tend to say a lot of stupid things, but recently, on Tumblr, I stumbled across what has to be the stupidest thing ever uttered by a feminist, to the point where I'm wondering if it's satire:I HATE AMERICA WHY DOES OUR GOVERNMENT SUCK SO MUCH
Ok I don't understand why girls have to pay for tampons, pads, birth control, bras, other feminine products, etc. I DIDNT CHOOSE TO BE A WOMAN SO WHY SHOULD I SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY ON BEING FEMALE. The government should honestly pay for that shit it's not my fault I bleed from my vagina once a month.Gee, I don't know, honey. Perhaps it's the same reason why I, as a man, have to pay for masculine products such as boxer briefs, aftershave, cologne, jockstraps, condoms, etc.
Apparently having to pay for everyday toiletries myself means the government is punishing me for being human. Does that mean the government is punishing me for being a man? I guess not, since, being a
Twitter Feminists Upset Royal Baby Isn't A GirlI made it clear yesterday that I don't give a flying feather about the royal baby. Well, today I do, but not for the right reasons.
If one were going to care about yet another pampered brat being born into unwarranted privilege, one would at least care that the mother managed to give birth to a healthy baby, regardless of its gender.
Not the social justice warrior feminazis, apparently.
Their panties are all in a twist over how Kate committed the unforgivable sin of giving birth to...gasp...a boy! This act of treason sets teh wymyns back by at least a century! Way to roll back feminism, Kate!
If that weren't bad enough, his parents had the audacity to decide his gender for him. Now the poor prince is yet another gender role-programmed drone for the patriarchy. Way to support the cisgender hetero
Is There A Gender Wage Gap?VIDEO: Is There A Gender Wage Gap?
Liberal pundits like Rachel Maddow claim there is a "gender wage gap", but is this due to "institutionalized sexism", or are there other factors at play? Shane Killian of the Bogosity Podcast provides some clarity to this issue while exposing Maddow as the Idiot Extraordinaire that she is.

Anti-Libertarians Need To Stop Asking QuestionsOh look, an anti-libertarian columnist has posed questions for "Free-Market Moralists", and—big surprise!—the ever erudite Stefan Molyneux has poignantly answered each and every one of them!
VIDEO: Questions for Free-Market Moralists - Answered!
We've been through this shtick too many times before!
First, Michael Lind posed the question that libertarians just can't answer, only for libertarians to answer it!
Then RJ Eskow went on to pose 11 questions for "hypocritical libertarians", and those "hypocritical libertarians"
Our Ongoing Battle Against Malicious Ads Tweet
Our Ongoing Battle Against Malicious Ads
Toward the end of April, deviantART released a community-wide news article that outlined and reaffirmed our stance against advertisements that auto-play audio, contain pop-ups or redirects, and promote virus or malware activity. Three months later, we'd like to provide an update on our efforts to block malicious advertising from running on the site.
We're taking these concerns seriously
DeviantART takes all concerns on this topic very seriously and immediately implemented a number of changes to reduce the chance those type of ads would get served by our ad partners. These initial steps w
New deviantART ThumbnailsHey folks!
You may remember a while back we showed off some brand new thumbnails in #hq's Journal. Well, after many weeks of porting and tweaking based on community feedback, we finally got these brand new thumbs ready for beta testing!
The new thumbnails
UPDATE (May 19, 2012): Based on feedback received, we've updated the new thumbnails to be justified. Thumbnails are now spaced out across the rows, making them flush against the left and right sides of the page. When a browser's window is too small, justification cannot happen without leaving larger awkward spaces. In these cases, justification is turned off and thumbnails become left aligned. We think these changes present the most appealing interface for both cases.
For those of you who didn't see the new thumbs when they were previewed a month back, here's a re
Dystopian Novels, and lessons people don't learn1984:
The state shouldn't be trusted. Hardly at all. Not with education, not with raising your children, not with giving an honest report on how well they feed their people, etc. Funny thing about this novel, most everyone of any political persuasion can use this book. The author was a socialist, but conservatives often use this book too. I especially found the part where Big Brother tries to separate the young from their parents to be an example of what the left is guilty of in America. Conservatives and libertarians who are capitalists aren't stupid for using this book.
Brave New World:
Even if the state could provide you with anything you ever wanted, that doesn't mean it's desirable. If "progress" comes at the expense of your freedom, your individuality, or your ability to have experiences that make us truly human, living between the 15th-19th century sounds better. That's why I'm wary of anyone who claims that Sweden is

I'm surprised no one has heard of this analogyThere's an analogy my parents have told me relating to economics and human nature.
When a baby bird breaks out of its egg, there are many factors that will determine when it will come out, why it will come out, etc. A child may encounter an egg of a bird, and mistakenly believe that a bird is trying to get out. So they help it.
Unfortunately, they have no idea how developed the bird is. Whether it actually feels safe outside of its egg yet, whether it still needs to do the simple exercise of breaking out of its egg in order to become strong enough to survive. Whether it's actually trying to get out in the first place, or just pecking. Despite the helper's best intentions, it does nothing but drastically decrease the bird's chances of survival.
It relates to how the scariest thing a liberal can say to you is "I'm here to help". How do they know that the person they are dealing with won't rise above their situation and become a great entrepreneur?

[short rant] FUCK "Growing Up"I decided a long time ago to never "grow up" in the societal sense of the term.
This is what I have noticed growing up actually is: the state in which your natural God given intuition, imagination and creativity is bled out of you by societal fucking vampires through a fascist indoctrination process, deceptively described as a system of education. This process has the mandate of making one less child-like and more child-ish. Converting us from youthful, adaptable, open minded and efficient spirits into insecure, dysfunctional, co-dependent, sick, cynical, miserable, helpless, stressed individuals at the mercy of the predatory entities of corporations, government, the main stream media and anyone else which might attempt to brain wash us into a state of forgetting that all humans have equal potentiality, thrusting us into the neurotic delusion that the opinion of another could somehow be better or worse than our own, when it is merely unique and individuated. Trapping us into a state of
A Brand New DeviantIDMorning Beta Folk
Today we've got a shiny new deviantID widget for you to try out
As it stands, the info on your page that informs visitors who you are and what you're interested in, is split into two widgets. deviantID and Devious Info.
This is a little unnecessary, so we've created a brand new deviantID widget that merges both of them into one!
Not only that, but the new widget will even help you along and make it easier for you to fill in all your info
How do I try it?
Simply edit either your deviantID or Devious Info widget and you'll get a little notice asking if you want to upgrade to the new deviantID
Accept that you want to upgrade, and *poof* you'll have the new deviantID widget with all your old data copied over
I don't like it, I want my old one back
Firstly, if there's any way you think we could improve the new widget let us know!
But if you still want your old widgets back simply click the "Clear Module Data" button
